Bone loss poses a serious challenge for surgeons. For this problem, orthopedic surgery utilizes innovative carrier materials that can be absorbed and transformed into the body’s own tissue. The goal is to completely repair bone defects. Heraeus is currently testing Herafill®, a synthetic, absorbable bone grafting material containing a powerful antibiotic, in clinical trials.
