Prosthetic Arthroplasty in Fractured Neck of Femur

Proximal fractures of the neck of femur (FNOF) are typical injuries within the elderly.1,2,3 Immediate restoration of weight-bearing capacity and prevention of complications – particularly of surgical site infection (SSI) – are very important. Cemented hemiarthroplasty represents a good surgical treatment option, particularly for patients with reduced mobility, cognition and/or reduced life expectancy.4
Application of a dual antibiotic-loaded bone cement (DALBC) such as COPAL® G+C can lower the risk of periprosthetic joint infection and its sequelae in vulnerable patients effectively.4
