Wehrheim, December 04, 2024 – Since its introduction over 60 years ago in Germany, PALACOS® bone cement has been used in arthroplasty surgery and is now available in over 90 countries worldwide.* In 2024, for the first time, the number of PALACOS® bone cement used exceeded 40 million documented arthroplasty surgeries worldwide**.
PALACOS® bone cements have been based on a unique, original formula and manufacturing process since their market introduction, thereby ensuring safety, efficacy, and reproducibility. Since then, the PALACOS® product line from Heraeus Medical has been continuously developed, adding various viscosities and product variants with and without gentamicin. With the All-in-One Fixation SystemTM PALACOS® pro introduced in 2012, PALACOS® bone cement with gentamicin is additionally offered as a closed mixing and application system.
“40 million surgeries worldwide using PALACOS® bone cements are a fantastic achievement that we are very proud of,” resumes Andrew Williamson, Managing Director of Heraeus Medical. “The fact that the PALACOS® brand developed so strongly and has helped to give back patients worldwide their mobility motivates us daily to continue working on the success of PALACOS®.”
